MilkoBiome

WorkPackages

Get to know the project better

MilkoBiome Project has 8 workpackages covering different research activities to identify milk bioative fractions, proof of concept on farms, dissemination activities, stakeholder engagements and training activities.

This work package deals with identification and selection of candidate pig farms for milk sample collection. The farms will be identified both in Spain and Ireland.

In this workpackage, we will characterise the bioactive fractions in porcine milk as well as the miocrobiome of milk samples. Milk samples will be collected across different lactation times.

We will conduct some in vitro assays with the identified bioactive milk fractions to test their efficiacies for different bioactivities.

This workpackage will be a proof of concept trial using the bioactive fractions in a pre-weaning phase to determine their in vivo efficacies.

This workpackage will be a proof of concept trial using the bioactive fractions in a post-weaning phase  until 8 weeks to determine their in vivo efficacies.

This workpackage focuses on the strategy for dissemination of research project findings and how to exploit the different opportunities that may be presented by the findings.

In this workpackage, we will work to communicate and engage with different stakeholders in the pig industry to bring enlightenment and awareness for the Milkobiome Project.

The research fellow will engage in some training activities targetted towards career and professional development during the time of the fellowship.
